Brand Story:
Kaiken is the Argentine venture of Mr Aurelio Montes, the respected winemaker of Chilean Montes Winery, and producer of the excellent Montes Alpha wines. “Kaiken” was taken after the wild geese that fly across the border between Chile and Argentina, much like the situation of Aurelio Montes travelling between these two countries. Kaiken aims to produce premium Argentinian wines. Its Vistalba vineyard is managed biodynamically. Their belief is that only chemical-free vines can truly express their intrinsic personality!
Tasting Notes:
Sight: deep red colour with violet hints.
Nose: intense aromas of red fruit like cherry and strawberries with mineral and chalky highlights, laced with notes of spices such as thyme.
Palate: it is an intense and robust wine. The blend of Malbec, Bonarda and Petit Verdot makes it complex with a balanced acidity, delivering a smooth and elegant wine. Its red fruit, fine tannins and roundness pleasantly blend with a persistent finish.
Grape Varietal(s):
Malbec, Bonarda and Petit Verdot.
Awards & Accolades (Robert Parker/ Wine Spectator/ James Suckling etc):
“Fruity, juicy berries, cherries and plums with a touch of graphite. Round, fleshy fruit on the medium-bodied palate with juicy fruit and firm tannins. Drink now through to 2028.” – James Suckling, 91 points
