The Arzuaga winery is in Valladolid, in the heart of the Ribera del Duero Designation of Origin. The wines come from La Planta, an estate belonging to the Arzuaga family in Quintanilla de Onésimo, in the province of Valladolid. This is an excellent location for vine-growing, as the plants receive the sun and moisture, they need for the grapes to ripen perfectly. There can be no doubt that Arzuaga wines are made based on three premises: the soil, the climate and the orientation of the vineyards.
Tasting Notes:
Clean and bright. Dark cherry colour with purple flashes. Powerful nose, high aromatic diversity, with a predominance of ripe red and black fruits with spicy touches and balsamic notes with a roasted finish. Large volume in the mouth passage providing soft and mellow sensations that last over time thanks to its great fruitiness amplitude and length. The wine in the mouth is a faithful reflection of such a complex nose. These connotations give wine elegance and personality.
Grape Varietal(s):
Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec
Awards & Accolades (Robert Parker/ Wine Spectator/ James Suckling etc):
“A well-balanced and spicy red with dark raspberries, chocolate cherries, violets, iodine, cloves and smoked meat on the nose. Full-bodied with firm and tight-grained tannins supporting a flavorful and spicy core of dark berry fruit. Better after 2024.– James Suckling, 92 points
“A deep violet-red hue to the eye, this wine emits a bouquet of blackberry, bittersweet chocolate and caramel. Muscular tannins support black cherry, purple plum, thyme, mocha and violet flavors. A lingering note of cocoa endures into the slightly chewy finish.” – Wine Enthusiast, 92 points
