Brand Story: Gramercy Cellars is an 8,000-case winery founded in 2005 by Master Sommelier Greg Harrington and his wife, Pam, to make Rhone and Bordeaux-based wines in Washington State. Gramercy’s philosophy is all about preserving the integrity of the fruit and vintage: to source the best vineyards, harvest ripe (not overripe) grapes, intervene minimally in the winemaking process, and use as little new oak as possible. The resultant wines display balance, intense fruit notes, strong earthiness, retraint and elegance.

Tasting Notes: Fruit forward and perfumed. Blackberry and Marionberry leap out of the glass with some red fruit aromas of ripe bing cherry in the background. Fresh ground coffee, dark chocolate, black tea, and mixed peppercorns add complexity. A slight tarragon herbal element, most likely coming from the whole cluster. On the palate, it’s all about dark fruit flavors and spiciness. Blackberry, dark chocolate, and black pepper lead with subtle savory, meaty elements on the finish. Plush tannins lead you into a long lingering finish.

Grape Varietal(s): Syrah, Carignan, Mourvèdre

Awards & Accolades (Robert Parker/ Wine Spectator/ James Suckling etc):
“Made with 8% Carignan and 3% Mourvèdre, the 2020 Syrah Lower East begins with a floral and fresh nose, popping with whole-cluster aromas, spicy florals, crunchy red fruits and a notion of bitter dark chocolate. Medium-bodied, fresh and spicy, the succulent and food-friendly wine will be ready for action when it's released early next year. Made with 70% whole-cluster fruit, the wine rested for 21 months in neutral French barrels. 12,180 bottles produced.” – Wine Advocate, 90points
