Montes is one of Chile’s pre-eminent wineries, renowned for its sustainably produced wines, distributed globally across more than 110 countries. Founder Mr Aurelio Montes was instrumental in releasing Chile’s first premium wine in 1988 which instantly garnered worldwide recognition for its astounding quality. Tasting Notes:
The wine shows a deep red colour, with the purple undertones very characteristic of Carmenère. The intense nose reveals aromas of black fruit, such as blackberry and blueberry, accompanied by pleasing spice notes of bell pepper and black pepper, joined by sweet notes from the French oak barrels, delivering a very complex wine. The rounded palate of the wine shows extreme smoothness and potency, with a very long, pleasant finish.

“The 2020 Carmenere Wings also contains 15% Cabernet Franc, sourced from the Montes Apalta Vineyard in the Colchagua Valley. Aged up to 16 months in French oak barrels, this dark garnet wine displays the typical warm vintage notes: blackberry marmalade, liqueur-like sponge cake and undergrowth against an oaky backdrop. Rich and firm, with a structured palate and an overwhelming mouthfeel, it lingers on garrigue-like notes.” – Antonio Galloni, 92 points
