HOBBS GREGOR SHIRAZ 2019
Why do we love this wine?
This beautiful Barossa shiraz has had the Rolls Royce treatment in the vineyard and in the winery, and to name all the TLC it’s received would take a very long time. Here are the basics: a fantastic growing season, handpicked grapes left to dry before processing (al la Amarone della Valpolicella, to intensify flavours) and 100% new French oak for two years. The resulting wine is like a bear hug from a gentle giant - it’s warm, filling and feels fantastic. Rich, ripe fruit is wrapped up in dark chocolates and mocha, alongside robust tannins that will see this wine good to cellar for a couple of decades. It is a decadent and truely impressive wine.

Blackberry, Plums, Oaky, Spice, Full-Bodied, Silky, Opulent
Awards:
4.4 Vivino (All Vintages), 97pts Wine Orbit, 96pts Patrick Eckel, 95pts Andrew Caillard MW
"The definition of quality Barossa, ripe, generous yet finely textured. Swathes of milk chocolate across the palate, fruit is sweet with earthen flare. Lingering spice and plum roll across the palate with a finish that goes on and on. A wine that it is incredibly hard not to like." – Patrick Eckel
Vintage: 2019 | Closure: Screwcap | Region: Barossa Valley |Cellaring: 2030| Preservatives: Sulphites
