Brand Story:
Founded in 1905, this estate has been owned and run by the Daumen family ever since. Domaine de la Vieille Julienne is located in the northern end of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation, in sector known as Le Grès. Since 1990, when Jean-Paul Daumen took over from his father, he converted to biodynamic farming in 1998. Low yields are the goal at Vieille Julienne. They are often under 20 hectoliters per hectare, which gives the wine a lot of its power, purity and concentration. The grapes are de-stemmed before alcoholic fermentation and all grapes are co-fermented. Aging takes place in a combination of foudres and old, oak barrels.
