Brand Story: Mitolo was established in 1999 by Frank Mitolo whose vision is to create wines of individuality, integrity and utmost quality. Underpinned by its motto “strong yet gentle”, Mitolo’s wines seek to reflect a unique Australian style of being powerful yet elegant. In 2000, the first Mitolo Wine called G.A.M. was launched. With acclaimed winemaker Ben Glaetzer’s winemaking skills, Mitolo has since achieved outstanding reviews from globally famous wine critics and a market demand outstripping supply.
Tasting Notes: NA
COLOUR: Royal red with claret hues
NOSE: Black and red currant are met with savoury tomato and dried herb, a subtle white leather note and touches of nettle.
PALATE: Primarily fruit driven but with savoury complexing elements. Blackberry, blackcurrant and dark cherry, coffee grounds, tobacco, roasted nutmeg and a touch of charcuterie. Tannins are plush cored with powdery texture and a youthful structure. Subtle acidity is well balanced and integrated with the elegant weight and style of the wine.
Grape Varietal(s): Cabernet Sauvignon
Awards & Accolades (Robert Parker/ Wine Spectator/ James Suckling etc):
“The winemaking at this address has become far more attuned to region, site and style, not to mention contemporary demands for lighter, more vital wines. While this, as with its shiraz brethren, is rich and impactful, there is a welcome freshness. The tannins here, not quite as well shaped. But for the price, savoury and nourishing all the same.” – James Halliday, 90 points
